We took Harrison to the Olbrich Botanical Gardens in Madison Saturday and took a bunch of portraits of him. Basically, we're too lazy to comment any further on the weekend, so here are some of the photos. Enjoy!

The Amazing Sitting Harrison
It happened just like that. All of a sudden Harrison is sitting up without any support. Last week he was sitting up with us hovering over him to catch him when he fell, but now Harrison spends extended amounts of time sitting up and playing. It also appears that crawling is just around the corner. He kicks his legs around when he's lying on his stomach and he can pull his hips up off the floor for short periods of time. It's pretty amazing stuff for us first-time parents.
Mother's Day weekend was spent at Grandma and Grandpa Franz's place where we also had a birthday party for Grandma, who turned 34. Harrison had a great time helping Grandma fold laundry. Rather, Harrison had a good time chewing on laundry while Grandma folded it. Several items needed to be returned to the dryer after Harrison was through with them.
After church Sunday morning we had a delicious chicken lunch with the Franz family (minus Alex and Carol who fled the country). With the three grand kids all dressed up we attempted to get a group photo. Getting three young kids to all look at a camera and smile is quite a challenge, and the above photo is probably the best one we got. Harrison really enjoys spending time with his cousin's Abby and Ben.
We really think Harrison is especially going to enjoy the company of Ben. Ben is becoming Yogi Berra-like in his ability to generate interesting quotes. When people left the party Saturday night, Ben would yell out "Thanks to play!" It doesn't make much sense, but it sure is fun to say.
Oh yeah, the Brewers beat the Cubs 12-6.

On hats, feedings, ham rolls and distractions
Harrison is starting to learn to enjoy the great outdoors. The above photo was taken last weekend when Laura went to visit Aunt Lizzie in Rockford. They took the kids to a soccer game (boo!) and you can tell that Harrison really enjoyed being outside. Who wouldn't enjoy the outdoors while outfitted in such a nice hat?
Harrison is also starting to really get the idea of eating. In fact, depending on the mushy fruit or vegetable he's being fed, he downright relishes eating. He's also started feeding himself these little puffs. Well, maybe he doesn't really feed himself. But he does pick them up and then squash them into his face. He's getting better at it and you can tell he's trying his best and what more can you ask from a six-month old?
Harrison is also rolling all over the place and kind of shuffling a bit, so that means crawling is likely not far off. Because Harrison likes to spit up, we usually put a blanket under him to keep said spit off the carpet. This no longer works. Harrison rolls over and takes the blanket with him and next thing you know he's all rolled up like a delicious ham, pickle and cream cheese roll. Mmmmm. Ham.
Harrison is also becoming hyper-aware, which makes keeping him focused on anything a chore. His feedings must be conducted in total silence and the dog must sit completely still, or Harrison will stop eating to look around at what he might be missing. To be honest, it can be quite frustrating. Here he was happily playing in his jumper (totally his favorite pastime by a long shot), when he heard a noise behind him.
